disney princess half marathon weekend part 1
WOW!! Its has been a LONG time since i was here!!! Hopefully i will post more often. Last weekend was the 5th anniversary of the Disney princess half marathon and i was in Orlando to enjoy every minute of it!! Getting down to Orlando was NOT easy. There was a winter advisory lurking over the that weekend. Thursday morning i woke up early to check into my flight that was going to leave Friday morning. By Thursday afternoon my flight was CANCELLED!!!! At this point i was freaking out and about ready to drive down to Orlando myself. Jay kept me calm and since he flies more than i do he got on the phone with the airline to set up new arrangements. After a few phone calls and lots of tears (from me) the new flight plans were set but not in stone since the weather was still going to be an issue.
So after working on Thursday i picked up mom and went to my house to finish packing and try to get a little sleep, Friday was going to be a LONG day. The alarm went off just after midnight mom and I had to get ready, pick up Michelle and meet Jay at bourbon at 2am so he could drive us to Milwaukee to catch a 6:30 am flight. What should have been a 90 minute or so drive took 2.5 hours because of the snow storm with blizzard like conditions. The whole drive i was checking the website in fear that my flight would be delayed or cancelled!!!!!! We made it to the airport with the flight still departing on time!!!!!
We checked our bags and made it through security with enough time before we boarded our flight (still on time) for a little breakfast. Our flight boarded on time and i thought all my worries gone, WRONG. The plane needed to be de-iced which takes about 30 minutes and they were about half way done with the plane in front of ours. That's now about a 40 minute delay PANIC is now setting in because with the new flight arrangements we had a short layover in Atlanta before making it down to Orlando. After our plane was de-iced the airport was shut down to plow my plane is now almost an hour late taking off and I'm going to have to run to my connecting flight in Atlanta.
Thank goodness when we landed in Atlanta we found our connecting flight was slightly delayed but i still sprinted to the next gate because we needed to make that flight. Poor mom was trying to keep up but waved me on figuring as long as i made it i could tell them to wait for her. When we made it to the gate we found out we had maybe a 20 minute cushion before that flight boarded so much needed potty breaks were in order. Nervousness makes me go even more often. We boarded the Atlanta flight and i could finally relax because i knew i was going to made it to Orlando in time for the fit for a princess expo and i needed some retail therapy after this day!!!!
Stay tuned for more of my Disney princess weekend........

3 runs in one post
So I've been slacking a little on posting my runs. Here is a recap from the last week. On Thanksgiving mom and i ran the 3.14 pie race in LaGrange and yes we were one of the first 1,000 to register so we each got a free pumpkin pie ( we kept one and donated the other). Since it was thanksgiving I did the race at moms pace to spend the holiday with her. Plus i was running 9.5 miles the next day to running for time was out of the question. I finished in 53:03 and mom was 53:13 (of course I had to sprint to the finish). Right before the finish we also got a shot of whipped cream which was fun and yummy!!!!!!

Chicago perfect 10k
I know i'm a little late on writing this but i finally had time to sit down with the lap top in front of me. On november 10th i ran the Chicago perfect 10. You had a choice to sign up for the 10k or the 10 miler i chose the 10k. It fit right in place with training for the disney princess half. The race started and finished at Navy Pier and ran along the lake front path or whatever its called, lol. For the race being in November in Chicago the weather was AMAZING. I was able to wear a running skirt, my compression socks, and a long sleve running shirt ( and yes i ended up being warm in my long sleeves). The race went pretty well the course was congested in a few spots but not too bad and the ankle held up wonderful!!!!! I finished the race in 1:23:23 that was a PR for me shaving almost 6 minutes off my last 10K!!!! Something i was very happy for. I was really hoping to finish in under an hour twenty but a PR is a PR and I'll take it. No race is complete with out some BLING!!!!
And thats what i got a spinner medal to add to my collection. All in all I'd say it was a fun race and I had a great day!!!!!

Hot Chocolate 5k
11/4/12
My family and I ran the hot choclate 5k today in downtown Chicago. The race was fun i had a post injury PR finishing in 41:49 I was really hoping to do it in under 40 minutes but there was a crowd of 40,000 runners so i was ok with those results!!!! Not everything with this race was peachy. It all started friday when we drove to soldier field for packet pick up and had to wait 90 minutes (at least) in the cold. Then once we made it in the tent where is was a little warmer there was still a 15-20 minute wait until we got our packets.
The "goodie bag" consisted of our hoodie, bib, and safety pins!! How is that america's sweetest goodie bag? BUT running away multisport was having a SWEET sale and i got a pair of $110 running shoes for $30, I'll take it!!!!!!! Race day morning went pretty smooth. I felt well rested, had my body by vi shake and we were on the road. Traffic on I55 was a little brutal and trying to get to the parking garage was HORRIBLE! You must know i HATE driving downtown, its just not for me! So we finally park the car and head up to corrals, I was in P.
Mom, Maureen, and Kole were in S. With Ram racing's system to start the corrals I waited over an hour before i started running by then i felt numb. I wasn't cold because i dressed for the weather i was numb and i took me a while to get in my groove. All in all the race wasnt too bad but I'm not sure i will be signing up again next year :(
I'd rather take my $55 and try a new race!!!!

my running journey
So i love reading and following the blogs of fellow runners so i thought i would give writing my own blog a shot. I am currently training for the 2013 disney princess half marathon. I am also signed up for a few 5k's and 10k's thought out the year. Also planning my 2013 running calender which i have a feeling will be stacked. After my warrior dash injury ( i can explain that later on) nothing is going to slow me down.
